Didn't you think there were enough, or many, of us Asian-American female writers? Well, there are. As in, there are plenty of us out there. We're not a rarity. We're not elusive if you want to try and find us. There could be more of us, more authors of color and diverse backgrounds, period. But we ARE out there!
I was mentioned in the arts and culture magazine, Salon, where the article brings to light the disparity of the lack of diversity in literature and diverse writers in general. When I first began my writing career, I felt the same way, and even went with an American pseudonym to engage readers and help them remember an "easy" name. Now, I realize how silly that was, but also, there are a ton of authors of color out there. There was also a delightful uprising of diverse literature that hit the shelves last year and will blast the literary pants off you this year.
